You need to ensure that you are only on the diet for a short period of time. If you have a low carbohydrate diet, you can easily cause ketosis. This will cause the person to have headaches, bad breath, irritability, as well as other health problems. However, the benefit of a low carbohydrate, high protein diet is that protein has an equal count of calories and carbs, but it takes longer to digest so you feel full for a longer period of time.
As long as you do not over do the high protein diet, you can lose a lot of weight with low carb diets. The majority of the weight loss though will not always be fat loss. Due to the fact that you will lose a lot of water weight, and not excess fat. There is nothing wrong with losing a lot of water weight however, as body builders and fighters often use these diets to look more ripped or to gain more weight before a fight.
